Afro Book Hub (ABH) is a Company registered in South Africa by Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), and subject to the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Afro Book Hub is in the business of preparation, production, publishing, promotion, advertising and sale of books by authors and writers, especially those of African descent and/or domiciled in Africa. We are committed to using books to highlight the good and beneficial aspects of Africa, as worthy of investments and similar endeavours.

Afro Book Hub operates mainly as an online book publishing, promotion and sales outlet, through its designated website, and by also making use of related marketing and Social Media platforms, in meeting its business objectives and purpose. Afro Book Hub in this regard is desirous of showcasing and promoting the creative and inspiring literary work by authors and writers that agree to join the platform. Afro Book Hub thus acts as a medium for the work of such authors and writers to be requested and purchased.

Below are stated general and specific Terms and Conditions governing the operations of Afro Book Hub in discharging its responsibilities and fulfilling its obligations. These responsibilities and obligations relate specifically and generally to book authors, other writers, partners, content contributors, customers, agents, representatives and others that are currently involved with the Company and those that shall be involved in future.

Personal Information

Afro Book Hub may require your personal information in order to provide you with the services on offer on the Afro Book Hub website. Personal information in this regard is meant to mean any information which identifies you as an individual, including but not limited to your name, contact details, opinions, Intellectual Property (IP) address, identity number etc.

Author onboarding process

Authors wishing to sell on Afro Book Hub must submit their books in Microsoft Word format for best results. This enables Afro Book Hub to optimize the reading experience for both desktop and mobile device screen viewing. A review of the submitted content will be carried out and the author will be advised of the review result after which their content will be available for purchase if approved

Payments

Payment for books sold is made as soon as a sale has been completed. For any queries, please contact us.

 

Terms of Sale

By placing an order with the Afro Book Hub, you are: (a) offering to purchase a product from our website; (b) representing that you are of legal age to form a binding contract with us; and (c) representing that all the information that you provide the Afro Book Hub in connection with such order is true and accurate and that you are an authorised user of the payment method being used to fulfil the purchase of such order.

Prior to our acceptance of an order, information verification may be required. We reserve the right to modify or decline your order at any time after receipt of your order or any part of your order, even after your receipt of an order confirmation from us, for any reason whatsoever including but not limited to a listing having been removed from the website while your order is being processed.

 

Piracy

Afro Book Hub is an ethical eBook store. One of our key objectives is to ensure that Authors, their content and intellectual property are protected, and that their dues are paid. Buyers on this platform are expected to respect authors’ Intellectual Property by not sharing content purchased from this website to any third (3rd) parties, thereby providing free access to such content and thereby prejudicing the authors.

 

Refund Policy

Due to the nature of the products sold on Afro Book Hub, namely eBooks and written content, no refunds will be made on eBooks purchased. As eBooks cannot be returned, we are unable to refund payments.

 

Limitation of Liability

We will do our utmost to ensure that availability of Afro Book Hub’s Services will be uninterrupted and that transmissions will be error-free. However, due to the nature of the internet, this cannot be guaranteed. Additionally, your access to Afro Book Hub’s Services may also be occasionally suspended or restricted to allow for repairs, maintenance, or the introduction of new facilities or services. We will attempt to limit the frequency and duration of any such suspension or restriction.

Afro Book Hub will not be responsible for (i) losses that were not caused by any breach on our part, or (ii) any business loss (including loss of profits, revenue, contracts, anticipated savings, data, goodwill or wasted expenditure), or (iii) any indirect or consequential losses that were not foreseeable to both you and us when you commenced using Afro Book Hub Services.

We will not be held responsible for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations under these conditions if the delay or failure arises from any cause which is beyond our reasonable control. This condition does not affect your legal right to have goods sent or services provided within a reasonable time or to receive a refund if goods or services ordered cannot be supplied within a reasonable time owing to a cause beyond our reasonable control.
